England coach Gareth Southgate wants to see more young players move out on-loan.
Southgate highlighted the case of Chelsea's Mason Mount going on loan to Derby. Mount, 19, was outstanding when offered the chance to train with the England squad before the World Cup.
"If your competitors are all playing in the Premier League and European matches and playing a high level of games then, realistically, that is easier to transfer into international football. But that should not be a negative for Mason at all because I think it's an absolute positive step what he is doing this season.
"It's an important step but not his first, as he had a year at Vitesse Arnhem, which went really well and he is in his second year of competitive football at a good level. Because of those first-team experiences he is going to progress faster than others. He is also of the mentality we like — he's a super kid."
