Southgate has work cut out for him picking England U21s - Everton defender Stones

John Stones believes Gareth Southgate has a few headaches to go through ahead of the UEFA U21 European Championships.

Everton defender Stones is one of a number of first team stars in Southgate's England U21 squad and he believes there will be some big decisions to make when the tournament kicks off in the Czech Republic on June 17.

"The squad that we've got, and I know the manager will like to have this problem, means that it's so hard to pick the team," Stones told TheFA.com.

"Everyone's at such a good level in games and in training so it makes his job hard.

"But, it's a good decision to have when everyone is performing and wants to play and everyone is so close to playing.

"We've got strength in depth, we're not relying on one or two players to show a bit of magic, we've got that in abundance so it only gives us confidence of winning the games."

The likes of Harry Kane, Danny Ings, Saido Berahino, Calum Chambers and Jack Butland are all in the running for matchday selection as the Young Lions look forward to their Group B opener against Portugal on June 18.
