Former Aston Villa defender Gareth Southgate is in line for the Sheffield United manager's job.
The Daily Star says the ex-Middlesbrough boss, 42, wants to get back in the dug-out after working as an ITV pundit.
He has joined caretaker-boss Chris Morgan, Motherwell's Stuart McCall and Orient chief Russell Slade on the shortlist for the Blades job.
A source said: "Gareth has indicated a desire to return to management and could be tempted by the Sheffield United job."
