Southgate explains sticking with Man City veteran Delph

England manager Gareth Southgate says Manchester City veteran Fabian Delph deserves his place in the squad.

The 29-year-old has been a key member of Southgate's squad of late but has only started eleven games this season in the Premier League for the leaders.

Despite not being a regular for Pep Guardiola this season, Delph started for England during their Nations League win over Croatia last November and Southgate explains that his faith in Delph comes from his strong displays for his country.

“You can look at Delph not playing for City, but he was our best player against Croatia. It would be strange to make huge changes to a squad which has qualified for the Nations League finals," Southgate said.
