England coach Gareth Southgate is delighted with the progress of Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Southgate continues to like what he sees from Pickford in matches and in training.

He said, "Jordan's ambition should be to go on from where he is.

"He has had an incredible impact for England in the past two years.

"He has made big saves and allowed us to play from the back in an expansive way.

"He knew there were areas that could be even better – and can be even better - and he has made some steps towards those in the first few games of this season, definitely.

"It is important for him [to continue improving]. We have two other goalkeepers – more than two [in contention for squad places] – but the other two here [Tom Heaton and Nick Pope] have been outstanding this week."
