Southgate admits having say on Keane's Burnley move

England U21 coach Gareth Southgate admits having a say on Michael Keane's move to Burnley.

The former Manchester United defender made the switch last summer.

Southgate told the Mail on Sunday: "At the start of the season, Michael Keane had a few hours to decide whether to leave Manchester United and sign for Burnley. All I could say was that it was a life-changing decision so not to rush into a permanent transfer.

"He signed on loan and after six months he decided it was the right place and he has signed there now. I felt it was important advice and it didn't undermine Manchester United or Burnley in that case."
