Southend boss Steve Tilson is still interested in Jean-Francois Christophe who has returned to Portsmouth early from his loan spell at Roots Hall with a hamstring injury. "Jean's going to be out for between two and four weeks with the hamstring injury," Tilson told the club's official website.
"It's disappointing for both him and ourselves but his loan spell was ending after Saturday anyway so we're going to be without him for one game more than we originally expected."
Tilson also revealed he is close to agreement on a permanent deal for the 21 year old Frenchman when the transfer window opens again next month.
He added: "Things are close to being sorted on that front. We're just waiting for his agent to come back and it's pretty much done."
