Southampton have financially benefited from a former player transferring clubs this winter.
The Saints received a sell-on fee from the January transfer of former defender Wesley Hoedt from Anderlecht to Championship side Watford.
The Premier League club, who are in danger of relegation, had a sell-on fee as part of the deal that took Hoedt to Anderlecht two years ago, per the Daily Echo.
While the figure is not huge, Belgian reports have stated the club could get up to £1 million.
Given the transfer was only £1.8 million, it appears Southampton negotiated a significant sell-on clause to allow Hoedt to move to Anderlecht on the cheap two years ago.
Hoedt has impressed in his first four matches for Watford in the Championship.
