Southampton are eyeing Manchester City winger Carlos Borges.

Born in Portugal, Borges joined the City youth set-up in 2015 and has steadily progressed through the club's ranks.

Yet to make his senior debut, Borges has become a regular for City's under-18s and under-23s, winning Player of the Season for the former age group in 2021.

The Athletic reports Saints scouts have closely followed the 18-year-old and that all parties are 'likely to revisit' the deal in the summer with the player himself interested in a move that could offer him first team opportunities.

Former City teammate Romeo Lavia is the natural example for someone in Borges' shoes with the midfielder joining Saints last summer. And despite never playing in the Premier League up to that point, he has excelled in his maiden top-flight campaign and earned his first Belgium call-up.
