Southampton tells players to stay home for rest of March

Southampton have told their players to continue training at home for the remainder of the month.

Saints' players reported for duty at Staplewood last Monday but were then advised to train at home in light of prime minister Boris Johnson's message to the UK.

An update released by Saints said: “In light of the latest Premier League statement, confirming that the season will be postponed until 30th April at the earliest, Ralph Hasenhüttl's squad will continue to follow individual fitness and conditioning work from home.

“The first team will return to Staplewood Campus on 13th April ahead of the planned recommencement of the season in May.

“All academy and girls & women's training and fixtures remained postponed until further notice.

“Club medical and sports science staff will remain in regular contact with players from all teams to ensure they have the necessary equipment and support to maintain their fitness."
