Southampton striker Shane Long will miss Ireland's upcoming friendlies with Andorra and Hungary to undergo a knee operation.
The 34-year-old played through the pain to help Bournemouth's promotion push, having spent the second half of this season at Vitality Stadium.
Explaining Long's absence, Ireland boss Kenny said: "Shane is going in for an operation on a nerve issue as he hasn't been fully functioning.
"He was going to have it done a month ago and then he let it go because he wanted to try to get Bournemouth promoted.
"He just hasn't been right and needs to get a small procedure."
