Southampton striker Danny Ings is the latest name being linked with a move to Tottenham.
The Saints front man is someone Spurs see as an ideal option in attack, likely as a deputy to Harry Kane, according to football.london.
The issue is that Ings may not want to sign as a backup. He would want to play regularly, as he does for Southampton.
And given he scored 22 goals in the Premier League last term, Southampton would want a huge fee for the 28-year-old, which doesn't appeal to cash-strapped Spurs.
Nonetheless, manager Jose Mourinho said this week he was confident of signing a striker before the transfer window shuts.
The club are also looking at Real Sociedad's Willian Jose, Crystal Palace loanee Alexander Sorloth and Metz hitman Habib Diallo.
