Southampton striker Dom Ballard wants a long run in the FA Youth Cup.

Saints will travel to Coventry City this weekend with their top youngsters for their opening match, with the remaining B team in action tonight in the Premier League Cup at St Mary's.

"We're really looking forward to it, the lads are well prepared and we'll be going for it," Ballard told club media, looking ahead to the match.

"All the teams want to win it and put out their strongest sides (in the FA Youth Cup) so it's good to see where you are in England, and I think we're one of the strongest sides.

"Everyone just wants to get out there now and show what we can do after last year. We'll push to win it like always."
