Southampton striker Adams reveals heart scan scare

Southampton forward Che Adams has revealed he experienced a heart scare before Scotland's Euro 2020 opener in June.

The frontman came off the bench for the Scots against Czech Republic on June 14th. He then started games against England and Croatia.

The 25-year-old said he had to go to a hospital for clearance before the tournament due to an abnormal ECG heart scan.

The Scotland frontman told the Daily Record: "It was difficult at first to get my head around not starting against the Czech Republic.

"But once you do that, it's okay. That's just football.

"And to be fair, we did have a slight problem before the game with my ECG heart scan.

"I had one before the game and they had to take me to hospital to get more information on it. So that could have been another reason why the gaffer made that decision.

"I wasn't worried. I think they just needed more data to prove I was okay.

"Obviously with what happened to (Christian) Eriksen, everyone was having to do heart scans.

"So that was all it was, they just needed more information and data to back it up. And I was all good.

"I've never had any heart issues in the past. Getting these scans is just a standard thing now.

"But the manager was probably concerned about me before the game.

"It was nothing serious but he wanted to protect me and I think it was the right decision.

"Obviously, I'm alright now and I'd had scans in the past with nothing coming up. It was more a case of other people being more worried about it than me."
