Southampton are working the Serie B transfer market this season.

Seriebnews.com says Saints had scouts posted to the clash between Spezia and Ascoli last weekend. A player on each team were the subject of their interest.

Ascoli striker Gianluca Scamacca, on-loan from Sassuolo, and Spezia defender Martin Erlic were the two players on the Saints radar.

Scamacca, an Italy U21 international, is also being watched by AC Milan and AS Roma.

Erlic, meanwhile, is being followed by Sampdoria, along with Southampton.
