Southampton forward Shane Long has been ruled out of the first leg of the Republic of Ireland's Euro 2016 play-off against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday with an ankle injury.
It is understood the 28-year-old is still hopeful of taking part in the return leg in Dublin on Monday.
Ireland are already without goalkeeprs Shay Given and Rob Elliot, while defender John O'Shea is suspended for Friday and an injury doubt for Monday.
