Southampton not panicking after losing start - Hooiveld

Premier League returnees Southampton are not worrying too much after losing their first two matches of the season.

The Saints tested champions Manchester City last week, eventually losing 3-2, before Wigan Athletic beat them 2-0 at home on Saturday.

Despite conceding five goals and recording no points, defender Jos Hooiveld is not panicking as the Saints get used to top flight football again.

"This is the kind of club where we do not panic easily. We came from League One two years ago and are now in the top flight," he said.

"There are a lot of things we need to learn and need to be cleverer in but if you look at the players here, it will come.

"The thing that I now realise, two games in, is that as soon as people drop a couple of per cent in their concentration you are going to get punished.

"Like the first goal, for example. We controlled the game quite okay until that moment, then you know it's going to be difficult."
