Southampton midfielder Ward-Prowse eyes Le Tissier record

Southampton star James Ward-Prowse is eyeing a record held by club legend Matt Le Tissier.

Ward-Prowse needs two more free kick goals for the club to equal the seven that Le Tissier managed during his time with the Saints.

The central midfielder has been one of the club's most consistent players since the appointment of Ralph Hasenhuttl as manager last season.

He scored a free kick in their 2-1 win over Watford at the weekend.

Speaking about the record, the 25-year-old told reporters: "I've spoken to him [Le Tissier] a few times and he's backed me to beat it, so it's nice to have that in the back of my mind.

"But more importantly the free kick meant we won the game and that's the most important thing above any records."
