Southampton matchwinner Danny Ings was delighted with victory at Burnley.

Ings was the lone goalscorer, supplied by Ché Adams's pull-back following a superb through ball by Kyle Walker-Peters, ending a run of three successive defeats in all competitions.

He said: "Burnley make it so tough, you have to try and stop as many crosses as you can, we showed great character to win so many balls. With a broken pre-season it's tough to get into your rhythm and hopefully today can be the start of something. The goal showed what we are about, a great move and it went in off my shin.

"As a player I always want to improve and learn. When we do build momentum we are a dangerous team to play."
