Southampton manager Hasenhuttl delighted with 'deserved' win over Wolves

Southampton are into the FA Cup quarter-finals after a 2-0 away win over Wolves on Thursday.

Despite their poor form in the league, Saints looked confident from the get go at Molineux.

And they finally broke the deadlock after 49 minutes when Danny Ings finished from close range.

Fraser Forster denied Adama Traore's potential equaliser with a superb save, before Stuart Armstrong sealed the victory on the 90th minute mark.

Saints will now face south-coast rivals Bournemouth in the final eight.

"It was deserved, I think. We had a good performance today," Hasenhuttl said after the game.

"It is a little bit easier when you have more alternatives from the bench and that gives us more chances to pick a strong side.

"Today we had a good side on the pitch and the guys did a good job. We still tried to be patient and find the gaps. The longer the game was going the more chances we had. We had the bigger chances so it was absolutely deserved."
