Southampton legend Le Tissier: Hasenhuttl will need busy January

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has urged fans to be patient with boss Ralph Hasenhuttl and this summer's transfer business.

After a summer which has seen Che Adams and Moussa Djenepo arrive at St Mary's, Le Tissier believes the pressure is now on Hasenhuttl to show what he can do in the transfer market.

"Ralph arrived in December and he didn't really do anything in January so this is the first window that he's had and it's going to be important for him," he said.

"It will take us to Christmas and then you can reassess and see if there are funds there and try and strengthen again in January depending on how the season is going.

"I think if you look at our squad now I'd probably say the one area we've not got much strength in depth is centre back but fortunately we're not alone there.

"There are a lot of teams in the Premier League that are in need of a good centre back but there just seems to be a lack of top quality, leader-like centre backs.

"I think the way the squad is, we're similar to Leicester City in that we're a bit top heavy and if we were to invest in the last week we would need to move out a few first."
