Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier says he would've stayed away from Twitter as a player today.

A day rarely goes by without the Saints legend tweeting, retweeting and interacting with his 519,000-plus followers.

But when asked if he would have been as active on the social media platform if it existed during his playing days, Le Tissier told the Daily Echo: “No chance! There's no way I'd be on social media. Not a chance.

"There's no reason for it whatsoever. There's no benefit to any of the current players being on social media. I've no idea why they do it.

“Nothing positive comes from it, it just wears you down, beats you up and shatters your confidence."
