Southampton are showing early interest in Peterborough United defender Ronnie Edwards.

The 19-year-old was very impressive in his first full season in the Championsihp.

Despite Peterborough's relegation, Edwards is one of the few players who emerged from the season with his reputation enhanced.

According to the Daily Echo, Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace and Manchester United are all eyeing his progress.

Southampton are also considering putting in an offer for Edwards this summer.

However, any talks are thought to be at a preliminary stage at present.
