Southampton are in talks to sign Atletico Madrid striker Luciano Vietto, according to Sky Sports.

The Argentinean striker, who joined Atletico from Villarreal in 2015 for a fee in the region of €20 million, is also being watched by Serie A side Sampdoria.

Following a disappointing debut season with Atletico, he was sent on a season-long loan to Sevilla last summer.

The 23-year-old scored six goals in 21 league appearances for Los Rojiblancos.
