Southampton are reportedly pondering a £5million move for Tottenham Hotspur's Kieran Trippier.

The Daily Star is of the belief that Saints boss Claude Puel is eyeing an attacking right-back this summer and could soon lodge a bid with Spurs.

Tripper, 25, only joined the North Londoners from Burnley for £3.5m last summer but could be lured away from White Hart Lane having appeared a total of 16 times under Mauricio Pochettino last season.

The former Clarets star is currently away with the Spurs squad on their pre-season tour of Australia but it is understood that Southampton are close to making n approach regarding his availability in the current transfer window.
