Southampton hoping Lallana lands England World Cup call

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino is of the belief that Adam Lallana is good enough to force his way into England's World Cup squad.

The 25-year old attacking midfielder has been in fine form for the Saints this season and his club boss feels he would be of great benefit to the Three Lions in Brazil despite only appearing twice for the national team.

"Adam is a top player, a wonderful player in English football," Pochettino told reporters on Thursday.

"I consider him to be a great player, everyone can see he is a special talent.

"I'd love for him to be part of the England side for the World Cup.

"Of course we'd like to see him and other players in the England squad - individually for them it would be perfect, from our point of view [it would] be amazing."

Saints skipper Lallana has scored seven goals and provided five assists in 24 Premier League appearances this season, with three goals coming in the past four matches.
