Southampton fullback Luke Shaw was disappointed with defeat to Liverpool in a week marked by his first England call.
It was a result that stopped this week being the best of Shaw's life, but not one that completely overshadows a whirlwind few days.
"It was a very disappointing end," Shaw said.
"We knew coming into the game it would be very tough and we didn't take our chances in the first half and we got punished for that.
"It has been an amazing week and obviously an emotional one, although I should clear up I wasn't crying.
"I was a little teary on the phone to my mum and it has been a great week.
"If we had won, it would have been the best week of my life probably, so it is a shame about the result. I am sure we will come back next week with a good result."
