Southampton defender Bednarek on Man Utd fight-back: We slacked off

Southampton defender Jan Bednarek says they must learn from defeat to Manchester United.

Saints, with Bednarek on the scoresheet, were 2-0 ahead of at halftime before collapsing to lose 3-2 on Sunday.

"First half, it started perfect for us," said Bednarek. "We did what we wanted, we won so many balls, we scored goals, we created chances and I would say everything was perfect for us, but the second half I think we were a little bit too sloppy, we lost too many balls and then we let the opposition feel that they could get something and that's what happened.

"They have so many qualities they don't need many chances to score. I would say they were clinical and they got the win. We have a lot of positives from the game, but not the result, so we still need to work very hard to get points."

The Pole added: "Maybe we felt a little bit too comfortable, we weren't working hard enough and that's what happens.

"Until the last minute you have to be focused and I hope we will be next game."
