Southampton have been criticised for overlooking Exeter City boss Paul Tisdale.
Tisdale, a former Saints player who played 17 times for the club, was linked with the job at St Mary's in 2010 before Nigel Adkins was appointed.
But the 44-year-old, who led Exeter to the League Two play off final last season, was not in the running to replace Claude Puel at Saints, who appointed Mauricio Pellegrino as the new manager last week.
Former Eastleigh boss Chris Todd tweeted: "I know Exeter City would not want to see him leave or let him, but it mystifies me how #PaulTisdale is over looked by @SouthamptonFC."
And added: "I still think someone will give him a chance at the top one day! #surpriseditsnothappened."
