Southampton congratulate Portugal heroes Fonte and Cedric

Southampton have sent a message of congratulations to Jose Fonte and Cedric Soares.

The Saints pair were key members of the Portugal team that took out the Euro2016 title courtesy of a 1-0 victory over France in the Final on Sunday night.

Central defender Fonte, who made four appearances at the tournament, and right-back Cedric, who also played four times, both went the full distance of 120 minutes as the Selecao edged the hosts courtesy of a 109th minute winner from Eder in Paris.

Fonte only made his international debut at the ripe old age of 30 in October 2014 while 24-year-old Cedric has now notched 16 caps since debuting in the same month and year.

Southampton took to their Twitter account to congratulate the St Mary's pair on helping Portugal win their first every major tournament.

The Tweet from the Saints read: “Congratulations to José Fonte and @OficialCedric!

“The #SaintsFC duo are #EURO2016 champions with #POR"

The south coast club then retweeted Cedric's post after his nation lifted the trophy in France.
