Southampton are confident of signing Spartak Moscow striker Quincy Promes in the summer.
The Daily Mail says Saints had several bids for the Dutchman, rising to £25million, knocked back but are convinced the player would like to come to St Mary's and look set to reignite their interest in him over the summer.
Patience is the strategy and they're not rushing to sign an alternative because they believe the 26-year-old is the right player for them.
The deal would have been for a club-record fee had it gone through, however, Spartak rejected Southampton's bids with little hope of finding a replacement before the window closes.
