Southampton coach Ruben Selles has explained his decision to leave FC Copenhagen for the club this summer.
The Spaniard served as assistant boss at Copenhagen, but left to pursue a role with Ralph Hasenhuttl at the Saints.
Despite Hasenhuttl losing his position, Selles is continuing to play a vital role under new head coach Nathan Jones.
While speaking to Danish publication Tipsbladet, he stated: “I have had conversations with some of them (the Saints owners) before.
“So when we finished the season in Denmark (with FC Copenhagen), they approached me with a very specific offer.
“After that we had some conversations over the course of two to three days and then they decided to offer me the position."
Selles added: “Their offer was in many respects, not only financially, a step forward for me.
“It's a big role in the best league in the world, so I decided to switch, as Southampton were also very clear about the fact they wanted me. When someone is so ready, it's just a pleasure."
