Southampton captain Ward-Prowse: We can win Cup semi at Newcastle

Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse has outlined his respect for Newcastle United ahead of the Carabao Cup semi final second leg.

The Magpies picked up a narrow 1-0 win in the first leg away from home at St. Mary's Stadium.

Now the Saints have their work cut out if they are to reach the showpiece final at Wembley.

Ward-Prowse stated in the club's match magazine: "To face a really good Newcastle side will be tough, but a great challenge and an opportunity for us to play with no fear.

"You don't get many opportunities in your career to play in quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals and we've got a fantastic chance of getting through. We can't let this opportunity go by."

He added: "I think you're obviously playing against a good team, a team in form.

"It's not all won and lost in the first leg. We know going up there the atmosphere is going be electric and it's a great challenge for us. There's no point playing with any fear.

"We have to go and attack the matches and give ourselves the best change of getting through. We have got a fantastic chance to reach a final. We're all desperate to give this club silverware."
