Southampton skipper Kelvin Davis has urged fans to put the club first after the sacking of manager Nigel Adkins.
Mauricio Pochettino could be faced with a torrent of ill-will from the St Mary's crowd during his first game in charge against Everton tonight.
Like a number of players, a large section of supporters have been angered by Adkins' dismissal, and club captain Davis said: "I think negativity from the stands can have a massive impact.
"We experienced that ourselves when we played at Chelsea on Wednesday.
"It comes on to the pitch and gets into the players' heads. Fans need to put the club first."
