Southampton boss Hasenhuttl says Mourinho sacking 'changes everything' about Spurs clash

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl admits the sacking of Jose Mourinho means his side's upcoming clash with Tottenham has changed.

The Saints were hoping Spurs may be distracted with the upcoming Carabao Cup final on Sunday against Manchester City.

But Hasenhuttl cannot be sure what type of Spurs team his side will face on Wednesday, given they will have someone else taking charge of the team.

Asked about Mourinho's sacking, Hasenhuttl said, per the Daily Echo: "He is maybe the most successful manager in the moment, winning the most titles so far. What can you say?

"He has such a big impact on English football so far.

"He hadn't had a very good year with Tottenham, to be honest, they are below what they try to achieve.

"They had a good start to the season and then for some reasons, injuries, a little bit similar to us, he dropped back and then - yeah - these are the normal rules in football.

"When you're not successful you're under pressure as a manager and there's the moment when the club decides to sack you."

Asked how a sacking can disrupt a team's preparations, the Austrian boss added: "It changes everything.

"Because everything you normally tell your players, what they have to expect, from one day to the next, is not there anymore.

"It would have been even (more) difficult because we know they have a big game at the weekend, so to find the right squad for the Wednesday game.

"We have a few hours to concentrate for this and we will try to find a team which is fit enough to compete against them."
