Southampton boss Hasenhuttl finds positives in Liverpool defeat

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl found positives in defeat at Liverpool.

Hasenhüttl was pleased his side were able to cause Liverpool some significant problems at Anfield, but he admitted they were simply not clinical enough in taking advantage of the chances they created.

Saints ended the night reflecting on a 2-0 defeat, as they missed a couple of big opportunities that could have resulted in a very different outcome.

"We had chances, but we didn't score," said Hasenhüttl. "The opponent had also chances and they scored twice – so simple is football sometimes.

"For all the rest, we did well, but we don't get anything for it and that's a pity.

"We knew that we had to be brave here, and we tried to be. We caused them some issues and I think we tried it in a good way, and that is the reason why we had so many chances, but it's not enough to have the chances, you also must be clinical enough to score in that moment, and we haven't been today and this is the reason why we are disappointed.

"I must say that the guys didn't play bad today, but in the end in football everything is about the result and we didn't get one today, so we have four more games to take more points and I think this is what we should do."
