Southampton boss Hasenhuttl: Danso will make mistakes

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl will continue to play youngsters despite Kevin Danso's sending-off against Manchester United on Saturday.

The Austrian defender, 20, was shown his second yellow-card of the game for a heavy challenge on Scott McTominay.

Saints held on for a 1-1 draw, and speaking after the game, Hasenhuttl wasn't bothered by the actions of his summer signing.

"It think it's important to trust them and to make them better," reflected Hasenhuttl.

"It is all young players and young players make mistakes. It's normal.

"If they learn it helps us and they showed how strong they can be.

"I am always trusting my players and try to make them better and that's the way we want to go.

"If you do it and are always positive with them then it helps them massively."

On Danso's sending off specifically, Hasenhuttl added: "I am a little bit struggling with myself because I could have taken him off and was thinking about it because it is always difficult if you are already booked in the last line and then one tackle and you are gone.

"I don't care. It's a young player who did a fantastic job I think."
