Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has warned Chelsea signings Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner aren't guaranteed of success.
Blues manager Frank Lampard splashed out £33.3million for Ajax's Moroccan playmaker Ziyech in January.
He followed that up by bringing in RB Leipzig striker Werner for £48m in June, on £200,000-a-week wages.
But Souness said in The Times: "Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech will be available for next season.
"Both come with good reputations but so did Alvaro Morata and he made no impression.
"Even Thierry Henry, one of the great overseas signings, took a season at Arsenal to adjust to the demands of the Premier League, so there is no guarantee that the Blues' two new recruits will turn them into title contenders overnight."
