Sons of Gullit and Van Hooijdonk face-off in Eredivisie U19s

The son of Chelsea hero Ruud Gullit is turning out for AZ Alkmaar.

Maxim Gullit, 17, is playing for AZ's U19 team and came up against NAC Breda striker Sydney van Hooijdonk, the son of former Nottingham Forest and Celtic striker Pierre, this weekend.

Gullit Snr said: "The annoying thing is that if he is selected for something, people say: 'Oh, that's probably because of your father'. That is annoying. If there is one thing that you should not interfere with, it is not that bad.

"If one finds out that you have an influence on it, he has no life."

On Van Hooijdonk, he added: "He has the instinct of a real striker. He has a contract now and is already training with the firsts. He is coming through."
