Sonny Anderson has jumped to the defence of Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

Anderson played for Benzema's former club Lyon, along with Barcelona.

The Brazilian stated: "Everyone would like to see him score goals, but with Cristiano (Ronaldo) at his side, who needs to score with every ball he touches, he has fewer opportunities.

"We do not emphasise enough the work of Karim with and without the ball. If Ronaldo is at his best, it's also because Benzema is good."

Benzema has been linked to a return to France this week at PSG.
