Son Heung-min was left to ponder what might have been as Bayer Leverkusen went down 2-1 to Bayern Munich on the weekend.
The South Korean international missed a gilt-edged chance when the score was 0-0 at the Allianz Arena on Saturday before the Bundesliga champions scored either side of the break through Mario Mandzukic and Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Stefan Kiessling pulled one back for die Werkself late but it could have been a completely different story if Son had have taken his chance earlier.
"I think so," Son told Bundesliga.com when asked if scoring first could have changed the complex of the game.
"If I had scored and Bayern had gone 1-0 down, they might have taken a few more risks and we may have created a few more chances than we did. It's a big shame.
"We gave absolutely everything to try and get something from the game. I think everyone could see how passionately we fought. We can take a lot of positives from the game and we now have to focus on Hoffenheim next week."
Son also believes that Leverkusen, despite a winless streak of eight games in all competitions, are starting to find some form following a narrow 2-1 Champions League loss to Paris Saint-Germain during the week.
"I think so. It's true we've lost too many games recently, but we can take a lot of positives from our last two games. Now let's see how we do next weekend," he added.
Bayer have lost four of their past five Bundesliga fixtures to currently sit fourth on the German top flight, four points second-placed Borussia Dortmund, and a whopping 24 from champions-elect Bayern.
