Solskjaer, van de Beek explain first impressions of Man Utd striker Cavani

Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani earned praise from his manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and teammate Donny van de Beek.

Cavani has already played an important role for United since arriving in the summer on a free transfer.

The Uruguayan was key to United sealing a come from behind 3-2 win at Southampton on Sunday in the Premier League.

Solskjaer and Van de Beek were asked about Cavani's qualities during a pre-match press conference.

Solskjaer said of Cavani: "An absolute top professional. I've not been able to get to know him really, really closely because of the language barrier. We have to talk through someone else, but he's so professional and meticulous.

"Everything he does, he does with the intention of being the best footballer he can be.

"He's a very good team-mate, a team player and I've been impressed by his attention to detail with everything – apart from his parking! He's parking too close to some of the players and coaching staff sometimes!"

Van De Beek added: "Yes, for me too. I see already from day one that he is very professional.

"It's sometimes difficult to communicate, but I think he is really important for the team."
