Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he holds no grudge against Manchester United over last season's sacking.
The Norwegian says he accepts he took the club as far as he could.
Quoted by the Mirror, Solskjaer said: “You know what this club means to me, what I wanted to achieve here – for the club, for the fans, for the players, for the staff.
"I wanted us to take the next step, I wanted to fight for the championship, win trophies, and I think it's right that it comes from me.
"I didn't want to answer all the questions. I wanted to make this known to everyone, I was going to leave through the front door because I think everyone knows that I gave everything for this club.
"This club is everything to me, and together we fit together, but, unfortunately, I could not achieve the desired results, and it was time for me to step aside."
