Solskjaer explains Man Utd formation change after shock Young Boys defeat

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has explained why he changed his formation against Young Boys on Tuesday.

With United ahead 1-0 but down to 10 men, Raphael Varane was introduced at half-time to create a back five.

However, the Red Devils were eventually beaten 2-1 courtesy of an injury-time goal from Jordan Siebatcheu.

"The signs were there in the last five minutes of the first half that they were going to get crosses into the box," explained Solskjaer.

"We had to deal with their switches a lot better and I though Raphael [Varane], Victor [Lindelof] and Harry [Maguire] coped with it well.

"Of course a deflected goal off Luke [Shaw] for the first one, but apart from that it was the best way of controlling them. But we should have done better with the ball."
