Solskjaer blames immaturity after Man Utd held at home by Aston Villa

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says inconsistency will happen with his young Manchester United team after Sunday's 2-2 draw with Aston Villa at Old Trafford.

Jack Grealish shocked the home crowd with a sublime goal after 11 minutes.

Marcus Rashford brought the scores level just before half-time when his header bounced off the post, hitting goalkeeper Tom Heaton - who was credited with the own goal - before crossing the line.

Victor Lindelof gave United the lead in the second-half, but it only last two minutes before Tyrone Mings equalised.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Solskjaer admitted his team must work on delivering a consistent performance over 90 minutes.

"First half today wasn't good enough, their first goal knocked us emotionally, we didn't compete until half-time," the Norwegian said.

"The boys have character, they're young, they have loads of energy and the second half was miles better, but it's a game of two halves as everyone says.

"These boys will improve and learn from this experience. As a club we don't like to be in this position but that's the reality. Wednesday we have a big game, Saturday, these boys are looking forward to every game.

"Inconsistency will happen, in moments we played fantastic and at times we were too open. We failed to control the game but we cant do anything about that now."
