Solskjaer backing Man Utd kids in FA Youth Cup

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he's delighted with the state of the club's academy.

Solskjaer is a champion of the youngsters at United - having given plenty of game time to graduates such as Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Brandon Williams and Axel Tuanzebe.

He will be therefore watching with interest at Leigh Sports Village on Friday night when the under 18s tackle Lincoln in the third round of the FA Youth Cup.

"I feel great about the young kids and I want to see as many of them be good enough to go into the first team," Solskjaer said.

"They are always going to get opportunities if they show a willingness to learn, the attitude that we expect from a Manchester United player, the skills and of course the performances.

"This is definitely a chance for everyone."

On the FA Youth Cup, Solskjaer added: “I think it is a fantastic tournament.

“Sometimes in the Academy it is not always about winning, it is more about learning, but the FA Youth Cup is the one tournament where they have the pressure on them, when it is win or bust, and I think that is great for their education."
