Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits he's had to clearout the "bad apples" in the squad he inherited.
Solskjaer said he started to pick out problem personalities when his United side went on a poor run of form towards the end of last season which saw them miss out on a Champions League place.
He said: "That's when I saw who I could build a long-term, successful squad around. You need some egos in football, but it has to be team first.
“I could see more and more at the end of the season what needed improving."
The manager says he feels he is the right man to lead the club he represented for most of his playing career.
“I'm a Red through and through," he said. "United matters to me. I'm honest, I'm loyal. I'm a club man.
“I plan for the long term and I want the best for the club long term. I'd like to think they thought I had the personality to manage Manchester United."
