Socceroos qualifier to be held in Canberra

The Socceroos will take on Kuwait in their first home game of Asian Cup qualifiers in Canberra in March this year.

It has been over 12 years since the Socceroos played an international in Canberra so it is a great chance for the people of the ACT to lend their support to the national team's cause.

"This match will be a highlight of the 2009 Sporting calendar in Canberra," ACT chief minister Jon Stanhope said.

"The Qantas Socceroos have captured the imagination of the Australian public and it's now our turn to show our support. I'd encourage everyone to attend what will be a high quality game of international football and demonstrate to the FFA the strong following that football has in Canberra and the region".
