Socceroos boss eager for Celtic's Rogic to perform at Melbourne Victory

Australia national team boss Ange Postecoglou has implored Tom Rogic to step up ahead of the World Cup later this year.

The 21-year old Celtic midfielder is on loan with A-League club Melbourne Victory until late May after struggling for game time in Scotland and now the Socceroos manager is expecting him to perform to his potential.

"It is very pleasing that Tom has been given the opportunity to play some regular football," Postecoglou told SBS of the former Central Coast Mariners youngster.

"He knows what my priority is from my perspective in a World Cup year.

"That's one part of the equation, the second is that he has to play some good football.

"Melbourne Victory is a good club and the A-League will be a good test for him as a competition.

"Hopefully he will get more challenging games in the AFC Champions League (should Victory survive a one-off playoff against a still undecided opponent in February).

"He now has the opportunity but he has to make sure he does well."
