Smith: Norwich fans put off Maupay

Norwich City boss Dean Smith felt the fans made the difference for their 0-0 draw at Brighton.

Neal Maupay blew a penalty chance for Brighton to take the points.

Smith said: "If we'd have gone home with three points, I'd have been delighted, but we certainly wouldn't have deserved that.

"Burnley are in the bottom three with us and we're at home, so hopefully we can give the supporters a lot more to cheer about than there was today.

"I think Kabak is out for a while, but Brandon is back running on the grass. With Max, I'm not sure. Josh rolled his ankle on Tuesday and could be out for a couple of weeks. Płacheta also rolled his ankle in training yesterday, and Rupp has a hamstring issue.

"Hopefully, the fans made the difference today and made Neal Maupay put it over the bar, but I told the supporters in our Q&A last week that I want to make sure we're fighting until the end.

"It wasn't a pleasing performance, but I think they can see the players haven't downed tools. We got lots of bodies behind the ball when we needed to but we want to be more fluid as a football team."
